Exactly, Gods. I posted the same thing. :)

You know what they say about great minds....

Haha.... well, I know from experience, since loads of kids at my school are offspring of wealthy, semi-smart people and have no ambition, but have loads of options to succeed. It's so annoying.

Actually, Olivia, most people are NOT "self-achievers," as you put it. You probably are sel-motivated, but you will find as you get older that many, many kids (both on CC and at bs) have parents behind them who have pushed them very hard - for both good and bad reasons. For many reasons, I believe that it's generally not a good idea to push children so hard...primarily because the child's self-worth gets strangled in the parent's expectations and because people are always going to be happier and more fulfilled when their motivation comes from within themselves.

I read so many posts from young people on this board who sound so sincere and wise, but one thing I hope they all learn from boarding school is that not everyone has had their life experiences. Most of the benefit from a good boarding school involves just that -- a broadening and expansion of their views of the world.

But, as Gods said, many people who do well can usually motivate themselves. They don't need their parents to motivate them.

A lot of people, I agree, do have their parents as their original guiding force but end up accomplishing more than their parents expected.

can you really ask them to score the ssat by hand? how could you get that done because my math score was exteremly low like unbelievably considering that math is my stronger subject? does it cost extra money?

It does cost extra money, but I'm not sure how you do it. Do you really think that it was incorrectly scored? Did you feel really good about it and then it came out really bad? What were your scores?

i got 80s in reading and verbal, then an 18 on math. i was honestly shocked when i saw that

18th percentile is quite low. That's weird. If you were you, I would have it rescored. I don't know what boarding schools would make of that--such an extreme difference is pretty unusual. If you didn't, like, panic during the maths section, and it wasn't incorrectly scored, I bet you just accidently skipped a bubble and then it resulted in you missing every one. If at all possible, take it again! If not, write a note in your applications saying that you think you missed the bubble on that one. What schools are you applying to?

im applying to taft, im definitly retaking them, i think the jan. 6th test.

What was your final percentile?

60's so im retaking it, if i get in the 80s I would be happy
