Chances!!!??

You got to school in the DC area? Then I guess that means you go to Whitman/BCC/WJ/TJ.

Bear in mind, those rankings exclude all of the amazing private prep schools in the area, who don't provide their data for the rankings.

But anyway...

Modesty does not necessarily lead to success, even though it is an admirable quality. But, of course, it is wonderful that you are modest.

haha sorry to cause a mini-war!

um...yeah I realize that my SAT in math isnt outstanding...but like someone said earlier, what's done is done. Not to make excuses, but I rushed to a vball tourny in PA right after taking the SAT haha...yeah kinda sad! Umm..and also, I didn't mean to call anyone pretentious, because I have a few friends who are going to Columbia and i absolutely love them! And fyi, my service was completely genuine. Um...whoever said the thing about my school...it's the 2nd best high school in the dc met. area...and is always ranked at the top of newsweek's challenge index. Thus far, 3 of us have been accepted by top-10 universities (princeton, mit, and chicago)...btw we're all girls...and other students have been def. from schools such as stanford, harvard, dartmouth...so I'd say we're pretty good school-wise. I believe the courses I take are challenging relative to my peers, and frankly if I wasn't involved as deeply with sports and other activities, I would have much high grades, comparable to the students who simply focus on school and a few other school-related activities...traveling for vball is quite time-consuming, getting home from practices around 12 am...and then having to do hw, that's why admissions sometimes makes allowances for recruited athletes. And the person who HAS an IB diploma and is a Senior at Columbia...good for you, that's awesome...but the bit of arrogance is not only a turn-off personality-wise, but isn't a good way of presenting the student body of Columbia. People who are truly successful are those who are intelligent, and quiet about it! that's my bit...thanks for your input thus far though!!!

i hate when people try to make believe they'r all moral and humble and s**t....first of all, you came here and asked for opinions, we gave them to you....if you hear something you dont like then tough deal with it, its your fault for asking...the truth hurts sometimes. As for the IB diplomma BS, i clearly wasnt bragging, i wipe my ass with that silly paper they gave me, made absolutely no diff to my life....i only mentioned that to show that i know what the difficulty of your classes are like and how the ad com views it

people can be honest and truthful without being rude and crass - keep the positive attitude KK! It will serve you well in life no matter where you go to school. Your cheerfulness is AWESOME - stay happy and loving life! It really shines through!

Bill Gates...modest and most successful

[/quote]

Gates certainly isn't quiet about his successes anymore. He's in the forefront of the media/news nowadays with his pet causes, and made Time Man of the Year last year for showing the world he has a lot of money to give away (and not because he founded potentially the most successful company of the 20th century).

Warren Buffet is more way more modest than Gates is.

OK, lets go back to the actual student herself and stop debating about WHO is more successful, Bill Gates or Donald Trump.
I like the fact that your classes are challenging. No matter what, Columbia would not discriminate against you-it's better to have some lower grades and have the most advanced curriculum there is (I'm an IB student myself and i know how demanding 7 classes + 4 HLs are-i take 4 HLs myself, but 7 classes...wow). OK, on the whole, I like the fact that you are very well rounded.

And lets keep the arrogance down ppl. The girl is actually here to listen to frank critique, not ppl talking about IB diplomas and how they would wipe their ass with it (though it's probably the reason they got into college in the first place, seeing that unis LOVE it, as it is so demanding and so professional)

Come on, you've got to have a little bit of levity here. Lighten things up and keep the process fun. When you're relaxed, your personality shines through.
