Chances!

Hello, out there! I would just like some input on my chances of becoming a Tar Heel under Regular admissions. Due to a scheduling mishap, I couldn't apply under EA, even though I applied in time for it.

In-state African American male
Unweighted GPA: 3.89
10% of my senior class (small school)
SAT: 1250 (bleh)
SAT II: N/A
ACT Composite: 29 (Math: 30 English: 34 Reading: 28 Science: 22 >.<)

EC's
Winde Ensemble/Band (9-12). Principal Player (trumpet)
Marching Band (9-12). Section leader
Tri-M National Music Honors Society
Jazz Band
All-District and All County Bands
National Honors Society
Quiz-Bowl. Captain/President (2004 champs)
Chess Club. President
Technology Club
Tech Junkies
Tutor (Band and Academics)
Besides the trumpet, I also play the tuba, euphonium, trombone, bass guitar, and saxophone.

Our school doesn't offer many AP's at all. By the time I'll graduate, I'll only have taken 3 AP courses (English, Calculus, and Earth Science), and College Physics 151/152. I've taken plenty of honors courses.

Two of my best friends were accepted to Chapel Hill under EA. They have higher SAT's, and GPA than I do, but lower ACT and less EC's.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

in....100%

Thank you! I was kind of stressing over my low SAT scores, and my guidance counselors said that UNC looks more on SAT than ACT. My ACT is a little above the average score of the middle 50%, although I know I could do a heck of a lot better. Also, not being in the top 10 made me doubt my chances. Here, there isn't much class variety for the university bound student. Everyone who wants to do well takes the same classes, and it been that way since my freshman year.

By the way, my GPA and class rank will go up soon. Unweighted will probably be 3.9.

I got deferred OOS, and im african american, with a 26 on my ACT.....u should be able 2 get in with a 29 instate
