what do u guy think

Though you have a good chance, your GPA and SAT scores do not meet the average of NYU students. Another thing that is easy to notice is that your grades actually declined. Your class rank looks good. I would recommend raising your SAT score, to be safe.

Which school at NYU do you plan to apply to?

yeah...i see what you're saying...do you think that the admissions people will take it into consideration that my classes got harder???

i'm not sure...probably the school of arts and sciences though i would love to try my hand at filmmaking

are u a student there unrealfire

The fact that you're an african american with a 1300 gives you a much better chance than if you were white or asian...so your ethnicity is a plus.

If you are applying for next year and not this year, you should highly consider applying early decision. Remember, college admissions is all about strategy...both for the student and the college (I think sometimes people forget about how strategic colleges are).

I believe URM's probably have a better shot ED when NYU has more seats to fill (translation: they have more seats to fill for diversity's sake as well). So in the ED round I think you have got a really great shot. If you apply RD, and if NYU already has enough apps. from qualified blacks by that time or have already filled those slots ED, your ethnicity won't help you much.

No, I'm not a student at NYU yet. I will be attending NYU next year.

Hi Shinobi,

I would caution you to apply to Tisch for filmmaking if you only want to "try your hand at it". Film, acting, and writing are the three most competitive majors at NYU to get into, and NYU (especially for film) is very difficult. The numbers on this board that float around ar 4-6% admit rate.

oh no, i wasn't thinking about applying to tisch i was just hoping to take a course or two in fim making, script writing, or something...i think that i would major in something in the science field...i'm still not entirely sure what i want to be

actually maybe you all can give me some suggestions....i love math and biology...chemistry was alright....i'm not too fond of physics...what are some careers/majors that i should look into

thanks for all of your comments....u know what i've noticed...forums for NYU, wesleyan, and the like all have people that support the other forumers and give hope whereas other forums for schools that have pretentious students have forumers that are only there to tear everyone down and make you feel as though you are not good enough for THEIR school (granted most of the forumers are in highschool too)
