I'm a white, middle class male, sophomore.

Tests:
SAT I: 2040 (will retake and get a 2400)
WAIS-III: 150, sd 15

Going to take SAT IIs in Math I, Math II, Chemistry, Physics, Literature, and Biology. I expect 800s on all of them.

GPA 4.15 Weighted (should go up after next year's round of 6 AP courses...)

I take the most advanced courses possible in my school...I get full As in math/sciences and A-s in advanced english/history courses (I just don't give a hoot about them...they detract from programming)

For ECs/Hooks:

I've written several 3D programs and demos without the aid of books detailing the algorithms behind the software (I figured it out myself, for the most part). Currently working on a 3D engine.

I'm an accomplished guitarist and a fairly decent pianist...I love music and seriously thought of doing it as a vocation.

Very self-reliant and motivated: I taught myself basic calculus, linear algebra, and discreet math for a project I was working on.

Heavy interest in computers and their workings: by the age of 6 I was building my own computers and by the age of 10, I was fairly versed in the basics of the electrical engineering behind microprocessors (I borrowed my dad's EE books). Nowadays, I know enough about microprocessors to actually write effective x86 assembly code...

Chance me for:

Harvard
MIT
Stanford University
Caltech
Brown
Duke

u seem a little overconfident in the "will make 2400....and expecting 800s on all SAT 2s"

did u do a bunch of prep or something? cause unless u prepared a lot more from ur first SAT...a 2400 seems like more of a "i want to get, not i will get"
SAT MATH 1 is pointless...most colleges don't really look at it since it is the stuff on the SAT 1.

your ECs look more like hobbies.....
have u joined in clubs? or any community service? or any leadership?
won any awards?

chane u????? i don't know where to begin. what was your CR and math total? that is most important....

caltech and mit u shoulg get a 2250 first....b4 even considering. they are really really into SATs. i know a guy who got in w/ 2250...but he was also very accomplished in science ECs.

I didn't prepare at all for the first time I took the exam. Since then, I've literally done over a dozen practice tests and have scored a 2400 several times (with the others being mid to high 2300s).

My math + cr score in march was a 1390 (710M, 680CR). Again, no preparation what-so-ever.

Well, erm, I count my "hobbies" as ECs because, well, they're far more relevant to what I'm going to major in than doing community service.

No, I haven't won any awards -- the only way to do so in my school is to kiss a lot of ass, which I refuse to do.

"Going to take SAT IIs...I expect 800s on all of them."

Ok, you seem a litte overconfident. If you do actually end up achieving all that you say you will, then you have a decent shot at any school.

But, as of now, your SAT score is only 2040, and you are a white male. So these things aren't going to help you. You also might want to start to "kiss a lot of a$$" at your school because, if you don't, you're going to have a difficult time finding teachers to write good recommendations for you.

If you can provide your programs/software as supplementary material and you make those scores I think you'll have as good of chances as anyone else, probably better. That kid at our school who had hardly any ECs and a something little above 2000 got into HYP, brown, and dartmouth.
I thought you didn't like harvard.
