As far as I can tell, Skidmore pays the most attention to (1) college essays, (2) challenging high school courseload, and (3) SATs.

I would recommend a professional college counselor (from an organization such as PrepMatters, for example) to help you work on essays, SATs versus ACTs, etc. College counselors could also help you narrow the field of your college search - it sounds like some of your interests aren't in areas for which Skidmore is known. If you don't mind my asking, what persuaded you to consider Skidmore?

Just on the surface of things, and disregarding the college essay question, it looks like you have a very strong application. I'd consider my advice of seeking a professional counselor, which I think could really bump your application to the top of a pile.

I think you have a good shot. I don't think you need a professional college counselor. That is a load of ****.

my gpa was about the same, but my scores were a bit higher. i, however, had far fewer ECs, but i did have a few ones i really dedicated myself to and ones that i won prestigious awards in. overall, i think you have a shot. just pick something (or a few things) you are really passionate about and try to connect them to skidmore. look at the philosophy statement - that really helped me. good luck and hope to see you on campus!
