I've just finished my sophomore year and significantly improved myself in all areas that admissions has looked at after having a rough freshmen year. So, I'm just curious as to what my chances are as of now and what they will be if I continue on an upward path.

Academics
-3.33 GPA
-1 Honors class which was taken freshmen year
-This years classes consisted of all CP classes, which is the next level beneath honors.
-Next years schedule will consist of Honors British Literature, Honors Algebra 2, Honors Chemistry, AP European History, a theology course (mandatory), and my school has a group of classes called minors which are also required, French 2. (I switched from public school where I took Italian to a private school which did not offer Italian and so I had to start with French 1.)
-Took SAT as an 8th grader and scored 1,000. Don't now specifics about the scores, but I'm obviously going to be taking them again Junior and if need be senior year (already starting to prepare).

Athletics
-JV Baseball, hopefully and probably V next year.
-Working out now for V football for next year.
-Hopefully by the time I graduate I'll have Varsity baseball and football with 2 letters for each sport.

Extra Curricular Activities
-Debate
-FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America),
-Mock Trial
-NHS (made it for next year, only open to Juniors and Seniors)

Awards/Leadership
-Numerous debate awards and degrees in the National Forensic League
-Made regionals/states this year for FBLA, elected as Vice President for 08-09
-Voted Best Advocate in Mock Trial (for trial)

You're looking decent to me- I would say be sure that the GPA continues to rise - what is you class rank? Because that is important as well. Try your best to get into some more leadership slots- VP of one club will be good (try to be Pres. the next year) but try for Captain of baseball/football and maybe some other leadership postitions in clubs.
I'm not entirely sure how CP classes will be seen by admissions but I would try for more AP classes for sure, though next years classwork looks pretty good to me. If you are taking Algebra 2 next year, what will you have senior year for math? Will it be possible for you to take Calculus- because that would certainly help as well.
Hope some of this has helped!

Thanks for the reply! I plan to explain my whole academic situation to the academy and how seeking to join the service gave me the boost I needed to start improving myself. As for the leadership positions, I will be working as hard I as I can to get as many as I can. As for math, I'm hoping to take a summer course next year at a local community college or university to set myself up for Calc senior year. I believe my class rank is 44/179 or top 24%. I'm also setting my sights on improving that.

okay well for sure try to get that class rank up- because I've been reading on other threads that Navy sees that as more important than GPA. I also wouldn't necessarily count on the academy being forgiving about the academic situation thing- so make sure that you have evidence of a substantial boost in grades to show them. As far as leadership positions- while its good to get as many as you can also make sure that you are always passionate about what you're doing and not just trying to stack your resume- what helped a lot for me was being extremely involved in one area. This way admissions boards could see that I was passionate about it and it also helped in the congressional interviews to show that I was willing to put most of my efforts into an area that I cared a great deal about. Hope what I'm saying makes sense!

not sure how your math sequence rolls out, but would suggest taking calulus, english lit, chemestry and physics.
While GPA is important, class rank and SAT scores generally carry more weight in the "whole person score." Take advantage of any leadership opportunities, but don't spread yourself out so thin as to be a "member of many but leader of none."

Keep in mind you will be asked to submitt references from your 11th grade math and english teachers.

No, I'm not using my GPA as an excuse, but explaining how wanting to enter the academy has given me a kick in the butt to get myself in gear and work towards a goal. Thanks again for the replies.
