Just because your SAT scores don't fit their range doesn't mean you can't apply. You have a great ACT math score and your ACT composite is within range. You have great courses and ECs, and write a great essay and you have a great shot.

According to my understanding from all the college admissions counselors and the department heads (from the two years I went there for Pre-college), they have informed me that they first look at your grades primarily focusing on junior and senior year, then your extracurricular, then your SAT scores.

However, each and every one of them have pointed out to me that they are looking for individuals that are the "next world leaders." Meaning, students that will become successful and be well known.

Some have also said, they take a look at if you fit well in which school you apply to. So if you have a strong background in say Computer Science, they will definitely take that into consideration, as long as you emphasize it.

With what I'm looking at for you, I say you have a pretty good chance in getting in, however CMU MAY look at other students that fit before you.
