What are my chances?
I have one concern though... 4 kids have already been accepted from my school under E.D... will this affect my chances? :(

bump for some replies

Sorry for the slow reply... exams at Vassar ended today, so I've been a bit tied up with them :).

I would say your chances stand somewhere between a reach and a semi-reach: if you're applying for financial aid, they're closer to a reach, and if you're not, they're closer to a semi-reach.

First of all, your GPA is within the right ballpark: Vassar students average a 3.7, so you're slightly lower than ideal, but still within a good range. Does your school offer any APs or IBs, and if so, have you taken any? Honors courses are good to have; however, if you haven't taken APs or IBs and this was an option at your school, your application might suffer a bit because, generally speaking, APs/IBs are viewed as "above honors level" courses. That being said, if these courses weren't an option to you, I think you're in fine shape in terms of the courses you've taken... as long as you've had a rigorous workload, you're in good shape.

The part of your application that is weakest right now is probably your standardized test scores. Both your ACT and your SAT I are a little lower than ideal for Vassar: in my opinion, it's good to have at least a 30 or 2100. That being said, as with your GPA, you're within the general ballpark, so this shouldn't kill your chances by any means. In addition, your Math II score is very solid.

Lastly, your extracurriculars sound quite impressive. I'm not familiar with several of the competitions you've mentioned so can't comment too much on them; however, they sound like the sorts of things that could really set you apart from other applicants. In addition, it's nice to see that you have some leadership involvements as well as a "fun" extracurricular.

In regards to your question... I really don't know; however, would doubt that it would effect you much considering that Vassar happily accepted four students ED already (you'd think if they didn't want anymore kids from your high school they would have not accepted all of the ones who applied ED or something). In addition, keep in mind that you're in a different admissions pool than most of your high school classmates, since you're an international student.
