Chances?

I'm currently a junior looking into U of I and I was wondering what some of you guys thought about my resume...

I should be able to get a recommendation from some excellent English/math teachers

and, I am also intending to apply for electrical engineering (maybe mechanical not positive), can you chance me on that program?

Seeing as you are OOS I’m fairly certain that you should get in. ECs look good, so does the course load. Not quite sure how a weighted gpa is out of 4.0, but if you have a 3.9 from it then you’ll be fine. I got into the engineering school at U of I with a slightly worse score on the SAT than you, so I have no doubt that you will be accepted.

A reach (but still apply) if your class rank, a very key factor, is only top 25% (engineering’s middle 50% range for this year’s class was top 8% to 2%). SAT is near middle of pack so OK there. The solid course schedule should help.

It does not want any recommendation letters and it does not consider SAT IIs for admission.

How does your school’s weighted/unweighted scale work?

we work on the plus and minus system and so for advanced classes (honors/ap):
A+ = 5.3
A=5
A-=4.67
B+=4.3
B=4 etc.
just subtract 1 from everything for regular classes, my gpa isnt that great b/c i didnt take many advanced classes till junior year. My rank is apparently in the top 15% but as far as colleges are concerned that means 25%

o and when i said 3.9/4 i meant my gpa is currently somewhere between 3.9 and 4 (not out of, sorry) im just not sure on the exact #

Ah okay. From the looks of your GPA… does that mean you mainly got A’s in regular classes and B’s in Honors/Advanced classes?

I would say thats pretty accurate,
