Change college still and $2500 scholarships

Sorry if this has been talked about already. Can a student still change their college choice? Our son decided at the very last minute to change where he is going to college. The school he is going to does not have a college sponsored scholarship. Can he still go in and change his college choice or does it matter? Seems like it would be good to have records of who went where to be accurate.

Also, it sounds like the $2500 scholarships can be sent out anytime between march and June. Are most of them already out? trying to figure out if we still have hope of getting some money for being a NMF since he opted to go to a school without any :(

College choice may be changed until May 31st.

$2500 scholarships already were awarded; press releases go out today, winners were notified several weeks ago.

How does this work? I thought all of the awards were already being sent out. If they have already been awarded based on first choices, how can you change it? Or are colleges and NM still sending out offers? I’m confused.

NM is still sending out college-sponsored awards until May 31st. The only catch is that they start sending those May 1st so if a student has a first choice with a school participating in the school-sponsored program at any time in May, that award could be mailed, and then the student would lose that award and any chance at another if they change first choice later in May. But if they are listed as undecided, then they can still designate a first choice by May 31st and get a college-sponsored award (unless the college itself required them to designate first choice by an earlier date).
