Change in family circumstances.

Checking for clarity here. Your parent currently gets a housing subsidy which will continue to pay for the housing where your mom lives.

Your dad will need to pay for housing at his new job location.

Most families have to pay housing expenses for one place. You will now be doing what just about every other family has to do…pay for one place to live.

Not sure I think the colleges will adjust for this.

Well, if you get that $30k per year award, then there absolutely will NOT be an adjustment for the living circumstance because THAT nearly cuts costs in half.

You’d better send some applications to automatic scholarship schools now.

If the special scholarship and/or the NNF scholarship fall through, what would you do then?

U of Alabama’s deadline to apply for scholarship is Dec 15 I believe.

Your college will judge if your health care is adequate. Unless you have a BCBS plan that uses the national network, I don’t think you can be certain.

@mommdc I’ll keep Temple in the back of my pocket - their deadline is March 1st, by which time I’ll know about NMF, and I meet their requirements already. I also prefer Temple to the others location-wise.

@intparent Although I don’t expect this to be a problem, I suppose it can’t hurt to check.

Each college has their own plan, and their own process & rules for deciding if your insurance is sufficient. They usually farm the initial decision on whether you can have a waiver out to a 3rd party that manages their insurance plan, but sometimes colleges can and do override that decision if they rule against your plan & you are not too far off from the requirements for a plan that gives you the waiver from the college plan. But I am not sure if you can apply for the waiver before being admitted. You can try to find out what rules/guidelines they use for waivers – check the college website.

The health insurance waiver is done after you decide to matriculate.

even BC/BS plans have issues. They will often only cover for something extreme, but won’t cover doctor visits for more mundane things.

My DD had a BC/BS plan…which was a HMO and only covered things in our state. She is going to,school in. Different state, and had to show that she had coverage there…her policy here didn’t have it…so she had to get coverage there.
