Here's a link to the new blog by Dean of Admissions Jon Burdick about a change in what test scores can fulfill the requirement for test scores for this fall's applicants - Class of 2017.

Here’s the takeaway message for all students applying for Fall of 2013 admission…

In terms of the “testing requirement”, you need to provide the University of Rochester with only one of the following: a SAT score, ACT score, or two or more results from AP, IB, SAT II, AS- or A-level exams. You can also submit any combination of these exams (ex. 1 AP score and 1 IB score) to fulfill the testing requirement. A full list of accepted exams to replace SAT / ACT scores can be found here: [University of Rochester : College Admissions](http://www.enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/testing.shtm)

This should be good news for anyone who has had a bad test day, and great news for anyone who doesn’t believe that their SAT / ACT score represents their academic potential.

If you took the SAT or ACT multiple times, you can submit all of your scores to the University of Rochester because we will “super-score” your results. We take the best sub-scores from each exam and merge them together to create the highest possible composite score. This super-score is the score that we will consider while evaluating your application.

Do you have a lot of strong test scores? Feel free to submit as many exam results as you would like to the University of Rochester. The information above only highlights the minimum testing requirements in order to be considered an applicant.

(note: International students must provide us with a TOEFL exam in addition to the requirement listed above.)

Okay i have a question. I am applying to the Fall 2013… I took 2 AP courses. Calculus BC and Chemistry. i got a 3 and 4… My SAT scores aren’t that great. like my CR score is horrible. Should i submit both scores? and the school will consider me at my best potential?

I have a question for TSocash. Your 9/10/2012 post indicates that Rochester superscores the SATs. However, the Rochester website seems to indicate that Rochester only considers “scores from your single highest test date.” Can you please clarify this? The following is copy/pasted from Rochester’s website - The University of Rochester considers the SAT scores from your single highest test date (sum of M+CR+W). Only your highest scores will be considered in our final admissions decision. Each time you submit scores, we will update your record with any new higher scores.

cheshire2 - I want to reassure you that we combine your highest possible test sub-scores together to create a composite “super-score”. I can see where our website has caused confusion. Send me a personal message with a link to that page, and I will happily investigate future changes to our wording.

Hi TSocash
If we choose use SAT II scores and AP score, do they must be different subjects? For example, if I get a 5 in AP Calculus and 800 in SAT math II, is it redundant? Do I need one for math or science, and another on for humanity or social science? Is it ok it both tests are math and science subjects?
Thank you so much!
