I’m an International student with a
GPA: unweighted 4
SAT: 1300 (math:740 Reading:560)
SAT2 Math: 720
I recently got reject or defer from other universities, I didn’t actualy notice how competitive of the major cs
So I was wondering if anyone know which engineering major is a easier one to get in that I can change before the end of January
The awkward part is that I wrote half of my essay that I like cs, so would it matter if I change the major to something else.
UCSD admits into the University first and then into the major. They do consider your alternate major if is not also a capped major or you could be accepted Undeclared. As I stated when you asked the question for UCI, you need to find out how difficult it is to switch majors if you are accepted not into your choice major. CS/CSE uses a lottery and very difficult to switch into later.
Majors with capped status – for all students:
Biological Sciences
Data Science
Economics
Mathematics
Physics
Public Health
Jacobs School of Engineering – all majors in these departments:
Bioengineering
Chemical Engineering
Computer Science and Engineering
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
NanoEngineering
Structural Engineering
None of the capped Engineering majors are easy admits either. You need to decide in what is more important getting into a specific school or getting into your choice major.
