Massive tuition reboot for one.

A very interesting approach. I wish them well.

SBC probably isn’t changing its actual prices. Just being much more transparent about what the real price actually is.

They are dropping the sticker price (tuition, room, board and fees) from $50k to $34k. Thereby getting rid of “this needlessly complicated process” where "no one is paying the sticker price.”

I hope that pricing model catches on. But so far, most college buyers still seem to prefer “high price/high discount” to “every day one low price.”

^That is because people equate value with cost. And also think they’re getting amazing “deals” on these very valuable (because of the original sticker price) options.

A few schools have reduced the costs and done away with ‘merit for everyone.’ I don’t think it has been very successful in growing the schools, but may save money in administering the “scholarships.”

Oh goodness no, students want to feel “special” and “wanted” with merit aid instead of less tuition.
