changing major for freshmen

Hi,
I recently got accepted to GMU for class of 2017.
I chose my major as nursing, BSN.
Now, I changed my mind and don't want to become a nurse anymore. I want to change my major to computer science or something that is related to technology.

Is that possible? If possible, when should I tell them that I want to change my major?
Also, what major are GMU known for? Is science a strong major for GMU?

Thank You!

You can switch your major with no hassle at orientation during the summer.

Also, when you are a student you can change you major easily through a change of major form. You just need an adviser in your current department and future department to sign off on it.

It’s not a problem, you can change your intended major by filling out a form at Orientation, and/or call GMU and they are usually very helpful over the phone. In fact I would call first so you can attend the Orientation that is geared for your intended major. Different Orientation sessions focus on different fields. Computer Science is an excellent program at GMU. Many of the professors are authors of textbooks that other private colleges use, and they specialize in areas like cyber security that are big in the job market now. If you want to transfer into an Engineering School major they will check that your math scores are good, otherwise it is no problem.
