Changing majors or cross school double major (Is it hard in boston college?)

Hi,

I was wondering if its hard to change majors cross schools in boston college. I think I’m going to apply either A&S undeclared or CSOM undeclared, but I know that CSOM is slightly bit more competitive.

I really want to focus on Communciation and Marketing and I would like to know if its possible to cross school double major or to change schools from A&S to CSOM easily.

Thank you!

yes

No. Extremely difficult to transfer into CSOM, since it depends on the availability of transfer slots which usually is very few. You can transfer the other direction (CSOM to A&S) without much difficulty, as long as you can still graduate in four years. (In other words, any pre-reqs have been completed.)

Additionally, the only way to double major between two schools is to have your “home base” in a pre-professional school. In this example, you must apply to and be a student in the Carroll School of Management if you wish to have both a marketing concentration and communication as a double major.

To add to Admissions’ point, if you enroll in A&S, you can take up to 8 CSOM courses. You could do the equivalent of a marketing concentration, but without being enrolled in CSOM, you won’t actually have that as part of your degree. In CSOM, everyone has a management major, then concentrations within it.
