Changing My Major

Hi I started my undergrad college this year with a major in bio with the hopes of going to med school and becoming a Surgeon. My problem is, yes I do like bio but it's not what I want to pursue anymore. I have a strong passion for mathematics and want to change my major to that and minor in psychology.
My question is: Will it be more difficult to get into med school with a mathematics major? If so, should I just continue with my bio major even though I'm not too fond for it anymore?

Your major makes no difference for med schools admissions as long as you complete the required pre-requisite courses.

A math major won’t pose any obstacle to med school admission. (Both of my daughters were math majors and both are now med students.)

As the poster above said–just make sure to do well in your pre-reqs.

absolutely not. Med schools won’t care at all what your major is. We’re not even sure if Adcoms even pay much attention to what a student’s major is. It’s not something that is a consideration.

My son was a ChemE major and he’s a second year med student.

I think you should pay less attention to “major makes no difference for med schools admissions” part, and pay more attention to “as long as you complete the required pre-requisite courses.” Applicants from 2015 and beyond taking MCAT have to take more courses for pre-requisite, one needs to evaluate that after finishing so many courses, would you feel comfortable completing another major’s graduation requirements in four years?
