A much smaller school but one that has an honors program, a Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha chapter as well as majors in International Relations and International and Global Affairs is Eckerd College. They have study centers in London, China, Peru and Mexico. Over 70% of their students do at least one: study abroad program, (semester, winter term, spring into summer term or spring break (service trip). They are well known for their spring into summer program at the Hague. Tuition, room and board is $49,000 with the average merit and financial aid award of $26,000.

Expect that a number of schools will cost more than $10k for Room, board, books, fees, etc. A number of schools are running about $15k for those expenses…particularly in the NE, but also elsewhere.

Univ. of SC has Nov. 15 deadline for honors college and top scholarships but still can probably get a scholarship that waives OOS tuition which would drop tuition from 29k to 11k (and total COA of around 22k).

Elon might not have been on your D’s radar, but I think it is worth looking at. It is a little bit smaller than what your D is looking for, but not much. It isn’t urban, but a short drive from Greensboro NC and also the triangle. Tuition is about 31K and your D may get some merit aid. She should apply for the Elon Fellows program and she is in range of the RD deadline. Check the website for how to apply to this program and for more information. There is an international relations major. The best way to learn about this college ( and probably all colleges) is to visit. Elon has made efforts to diversify over the years.

Although it seems I am selling the school, I have no connections to it, but I have known students who went there who seemed to like it.

Early Action deadline for Tulane has been extended to December 3. At least the email we got says that.
