***Chapman Class of 2020 Regular Decision***

Accepted with a 3.6 GPA and 27 ACT. Business Major

Accepted! I’m even gonna post my stats, just know they’re below the average, but I had a very strong upward trend, stellar essays, and a pretty decent audition! I cried so much! I thought it was a mistake!

Wow. I have a 2150 SAT and my GPA is 3.68 unweighted… I was happy when I saw my admissions email because I live in California and Chapman is one of my top schools where I really see myself. But when I read the email later, it was only an acceptance for Spring 2017 term. I guess I’m happy I wasn’t denied but I’m pretty disappointed. I’m wondering if I did something wrong… I’m not top 90% or anything but I didn’t think I’d have an issue getting in and it’s a good fit for me.

@mermaid29 For private schools, they look at your application thoroughly, if you haven’t done enough volunteer work or have a large amount of experience it makes you less competitive. Also another factor that could effect their decision for admission would be your personal essay and what and how you wrote it.

Status: ACCEPTED
GPA: 3.60
SAT: 1600

So surprised I got in but WOOHOOO

@ckel8496 very true… this is why I applied to very very few publics–I have a somewhat untraditional record, and definitely compensate for my raw stats with everything else. my weakness is my transcript, but I have like 400+ hours of volunteer and work experience (most related to my major), plus a running summer job for the last three years. I’d like to think that my essay was strong but I can’t judge that myself… I do have past health issues that were outlined in the additional info section, and though I have a better chance with smaller schools (the publics are a crapshoot for me because they spend much less time on each file) who look at the whole file, that may be a red flag. it could have been anything, honestly, but I’m bummed.

accepted for biological sciences with a 3.7 gpa and a 33 act so happy… :)) :-h

Has anyone received the physical letter in the mail? Did scholarships come with it? I got an email the other day about an updated portal system, but I couldn’t find any info on scholarships.

i know a few people (in state) who got letters and scholarship notifications today. the merit scholarship letters and acceptances definitely come together. @missungaro

I just got my physical letter and it had a scholarship letter inside! 16K a year, Dean’s Scholar  I’m so happy

GPA: 2.78
ACT: 24
Major: Acting (Theatre)
EC: TONS, I did pretty much everything artistic in high school and landed a spot in my city’s performing arts high school. I was also into sports and many clubs. In many of these I held leadership roles.
Essays: Very strong; talked about my drive and stressed that my future is more important than my past (Suffered from various illnesses sophomore year and bombed). I know I’m intelligent (I easily held a 3.7 junior/senior year), but early high school was a roller coaster. My upward trend was strong though.

Letter of Rec: I cried when I read it. The teacher who wrote it is very close to me and is an amazing writer.

Audition: I felt it was only mediocre… But my pieces were highly regarded in a scholarship competition at my school. I remember sitting in the starbucks of a ritz-y hotel in Chicago after my audition recalling the “Ah-ha!” Moments during my audition. Looking back, it was a memorable experience. I’d worked on them for a year, so even on my bad days they were good. Also, my resume is extensive. I adored the adjudicators!

End note: I really showed passion for Chapman throughout the whole process. Truth is, especially in an arts major, you have to nail the audition and show some sort of progression academically and artistically. This is a blessing.

@chloebyoung

Holy! You got in???
Were you a recruited athlete?
Chapman doesn’t care about level of interest(well according to their CDS) so I am pretty surprised you got in. Still congrats! Did you take AP or college or honors classes in high school?

Hey, EYeager! I was a BFA applicant for acting, so I guess I could be considered a “recruited actor” ahaha!! I did take a hefty course load all throughout high school; I took all four years of core classes and some AP and honors classes. Thank you!

Congrats!!! I’m so happy they didn’t look at you for just your grades! @chloebyoung & I understand the illness part. I watched my friend go through some really hard times sophomore & junior year. She got so many incompletes & I was scared for her. So glad you pushed through!

I have a 3.4 and an 1860 SAT and I got spring admit. Some colleges give spring admit to students which guarantees them a spot in a spring and puts them on the fall wait list. Hopefully I’ll get off the wait list and can start in the fall with everyone else

I got spring admit too!! DM me if ya wanna talk since we’re in the same boat

I was accepted with a 3.38 weighted gpa (3.5 after first semester) and a 23 on the act. Pretty low gpa but this is because I did TERRIBLE during my freshman year because of personal issues. I’m talking 2.5…literally hurts even typing it. But if you don’t count my freshman year grades I have a 3.9 GPA. I had a fantastic upward trend earning a 4.1 junior year! Which Is why I think I was accepted  And I also had plenty of EC’s with really well written essays  good luck to all!!

Also I was accepted for spring:) on the wait list for fall

How many AP classes are students taking during high school? As a high school sophomore, I have 3.5 gpa and have only taken 2 honors classes each year. For my junior and senior year, I am trying to figure out how many AP classes I need to take each year.
