Hey,
This is for accepted chapman students, how good did you do in high school? I have about a 3.3, and Chapman is one of my top choices, wondering what the chances look like
thanks!

erm well I had a 3.8 unweighted and a 4.02 weighted
i got a 2010 on my sats (math 610, crit 670, writing 730)
but i also got the chancellor's scholarship, so i assume that means i was above average.

good luck!

Hey! Someone with a similar GPA! :)

I got accepted with a 3.35 GPA and an SAT score of 1670. Don't count yourself out!! I have scores that are on the low side in all honesty for Chapman. However, I displayed ALOT of passion and drive to get into Chapman because it was my absolute number one school! When you applying, make yourself known to the admissions staff! They are all very nice! Also, attend every event you possibly can (I'm from out of state and made it a point to go to Chapman twice). Best of luck to you!! Hope to see you around in the future!

Thanks muhlissa! I like those numbers haha :D
I'm only about 45 mins away, so i'm definitley going to try to attend some events. Do you sign in at them and they keep track?
Chapman is not my #1 choice, USC is, but USC is most likely and in all honesty..not going to happen with those grades. So i'm really looking at Chapman, and it looks like an amazing place

It is an amazing place :D What major are you applying for?
And yes, they do keep track of who visits.
3.6 unweighted I think? 4.0 weighted
2130 SAT

I'm planning on a Televsion Production major, and thinking also about the new creative producing one as well

i had a 2.45 GPA (competitive private school though… still low) and 2050 SAT’s. ACCEPTED.

Don’t worry… A 3.3 is still a good GPA. It doesn’t matter what your GPA/SAT scores are as much as your essays. I had a 3.75 weighter GPA and got a 1690 or something for my SAT scores, but my essays were very well written… I put a lot of hard work into them… So focus on that.

I wish we had some transfers in here who could help me. I’d like to see what their stats are.

i’ll be a freshman for fall 2009, and my g.p.a. weighted was 4.236, 3.978 unweighted, 1940 sat, 29 act… i got the presidential scholarship.

I got in for film production. GPA 3.63, ACT 34, SAT 2070-- So, what is the difference between a presidential scholarship and a chancellor scholarship?

presidential - $23K
chancellor’s - $18K

Accepted - film studies. 2.87/1920. Damn good resume and essays.

i’m on my friends account, but i got in with a 3.64 gpa, pretty average test scores, but i showed a lot of drive in my essays, i think they look at that a lot. and i went to visit

gpa 4.0
sat 2150

overachiever lol… i was shooting for usc but didn’t get in
got some nice scholarship money for my stats though at chapman and i’m going there for sure now

S, accepted to film production on chancellors scholarship, has a 3.45 unweighted gpa, 5.0+ weighted, because he’s in that crazy IB program, with extra APs. Florida grade inflates, I believe, when it comes to weighting. SAT: 2060. ACT: 29. SAT IIs: math - 690, lit - 700.
I think he was accepted because he’s academically strong, but he may have gotten the scholarship because he was OOS? I’m thinking that Chapman wants to draw from beyond OC and CA.

I’m starting to think Chapmans going to be really unrealistic for me with a 3.3 UW and W GPA, and a 1490 :(

socalscott: If you were my kid, I’d give you the following advice.

If you’re a junior you’ve got time to work on the SATs. Did Chapman tell you what they’re particularly looking for? Each school has their hierarchy of needs & wants. We didn’t know anything going in, and I know that if you ask the right questions, you may find out where you need to strengthen, and be ahead of the game. 3.3 is solid, and if you don’t test well, maybe you can riff off of that topic in your video or essay or something, so they know that you know that it’s a weakness and that you’re self aware and you’re addressing it head on. Don’t give up, and be selective about where you apply your extra efforts. Good luck!!

hey i was accepted with a 3.3 unweighted!! my weighted it 3.7!!! and my sat score was 1670…just visit the campus…show the admission officers that you are interested and work hard on your application!

I understand that a key is having a specialty that you excel at, such as film, theater, music or sports, though I don’t know if Chapman is into sports.
