Hey there,
Due to moving around and some personable problems involving my parents throughout my freshman year, I have been getting horrible grades in my math class, with my other classes in good condition, I am pretty sure I will be ending this semester with a C in my Algebra 2/Trig honors class, which will bring my GPA down to a 3.7. I got a B last semester.
I want to try fixing my record, and making my GPA higher by taking a few AP classes online, as my summers are not that occupied. I was planning on taking AP Hug, AP World, AP Psych, and AP Music theory, classes I have a genuine interest in, but I have yet to find an online provider that is at a reasonable price, except for AP Psych, which I found on BYU for $280 (both semesters) which is as reasonable as it can get, and the general price range I am looking at for 2 semesters. Have any of you guys used an online provider that is a reasonable price, easy to get good grades in, and learned a lot from it?
Also, my friend and I were planning on taking AP Psych on FLVS, as her mom’s cousin is a Florida resident, and use her address, but I don’t think we can cheat the system…can we??
I’m not sure if you’re interested in Computer Science, but Amplify MOOC offers a completely free AP Computer Science course. I’ve heard got things about it too.
As for other subjects, that probably seems like one of the cheapest providers you can find. When I researched online courses, most were $800+ for both semesters. I think I remember seeing APEX (found pretty good reviews for them) being $600 for both semesters but I may be wrong.
I was thinking about cheating the system that way as well… my grandparents live in FL. But I’m pretty sure FLVS sends the transcript to the school you’re in, and if they see that they’re sending it to a school that’s not in Florida, they’ll know what’s up.
My daughter did AP Bio online, two parts, through BYU. It was reasonably priced. She was a bit frustrated by the fact that the book and some of the quizzes did not align well, but she got to retake the quizzes to improve her scores when she wasn’t happy with the quiz grade (at $10 each retake). You do have to be self motivated and not mind things like having to write everything out by hand then scan your homework and essays to turn them in.
@andrewoz9 hmm maybe we can cheat the system? Or do something. PM me, because I kinda think I have an idea. What AP Class were you planning on taking?
