Chem Eng., who pays better, oil or biotech?

I like physics and chem a lot better than bio, but I'm worried if oil prices drop in the future and we get fuel cells and alternative energy schnit like that then oil companies aren't going to shell out the money like they used to and biotech might be a safer way to go. Thoughts?

Oil, easily.

While something like that most certainly will happen, we are still decades and decades away.

Dont under estimate Washington -- lot's of the big boys in government (and in the white house) have lots invested in the oil companies. Thus, their profits wont dry up over night.

A lot of big oil companies are investing money in alternative power.

If you were a big, rich, smart, oil company, and saw that oil was about to be inevitably replaced with alternative energy options, what would you do? Buy out, develop, or otherwise control, own, and profit from those new alternative energy options. Besides, there are more uses for oil than energy.

also depends on where u grad. from, diff. salary from diff schools for diff companies blah blah blah, prob. oil tho

I don't get the impression that biotech is that lucrative for most people at the moment.

gthopeful, stats for GT?

Thanks dewdz

oil jobs are no walk in the park nor picnic on weekends. I don't know much about biotech jobs.
