ChemE student who needs a laptop

Hey guys, I need help getting a new laptop for ChemE at lehigh this fall. I'm not good with computers and figuring out how much ram I need or what graphics card A can do over graphics card B so if you guys could help me out that would be great. I want a laptop that I can do my school work on easily BUT also a laptop that can be used for entertainment i.e. gaming. I here thinkpads are great, but they don't cut the mustard when it comes to games.

I want a laptop that is under 6.5 pounds and in the 13"-15" size range. Some laptops that I have honed in on are the Hp envy 14 spectre, the hp envy 15, the sony vaio s premium, and the macbook pro.

Which one of these laptops can run games like FIFA, Skyrim, or BF3 but can also handle chemE type work and programs? Are there other laptops that fit my specs that are far better? Thanks guys

It depends on what you mean by gaming. Do you mean running those games on the lowest settings at a respectable framerate, or getting high/max graphics settings? Also, what kind of budget are you looking at?

Medium to high settings. Sorry I should have said that

Any suggestions? Will these laptops be able to handle games like battlefield 3

[Gaming Laptops - XOTIC PC - Gaming Notebooks - Custom Laptops - Custom Notebooks](http://www.xoticpc.com) many choices to look at. there’s also cyberpowerpc and its sister company, sager, origin, alienware, digitalstorm, higher end dell/hp/toshiba, falconnw

^ To elaborate check out the Sager NP6165 in Xotic PC. It has pretty good specs, weighs only 6.17 pounds, and costs less than $900 (but no OS)
