Chemical/Biomedical/Biomolecular Engineering

As I have been looking at Biomedical/Bioengineering for a while, I have also seen that a few schools (Penn State, Johns Hopkins, UPenn, Lehigh) offer Chemical Engineering programs with tracks in biomolecular/biopharmaceutical "engineering." My plans and interest lie in a possibility for Med School, as well as possibly staying in the field of parmaceuticals/tissues/biomaterials. I am in my second year of Chemistry, and I like it--a lot. I also like medicine, and it seems as if some kind of a Chemical Engineering program with, essentially, a biochem track would be more appropriate than a BME major. Of course, I will have time to make my decision, as most schools only require a major choice by sophomore year. Is this chem/biochem engineering option viable? I know that JHopkins and UPenn name their Chemical Engineering program as "Chemical and Biomolecular" or something similar. Would it be silly to major in ChemE if I really want to work with medicine-related subjects (pharmaceuticals, biomaterials, etc.) (assuming no med school), or would it be more prudent of me to go straight to BME?

Thanks a lot...

biomed and chemE are both really good engineering fields to get into med school, I think you should go with bme if that's what area you're thinking of doing, and it has a lot of chem stuff in it anyway.
