Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or Microbiology

Hello! this is my first post here, I'm a senior going to school in the United Arab Emirates and I'm hoping to study in Canada. I know this forum's all for the United States, but they're both North American countries and the Canadian university system is very similar to the american system.

I'm stuck deciding between 3 majors really, I want Chemical Engineering because it offers a safe backup if I don't get into medical school but I have been warned that it is hard to maintain a high GPA in any of the engineering fields, and either a Biochemistry or a Microbiology degree because I don't know which of the two offers better career prospects.

I'd like to know what the GPA (approximately) that I have to maintain to be competitive when it comes to medical school, and your ideas on whether Biochemistry or Microbiology offers better career prospects. Also, could anyone clarify what exactly goes on in honor's programs and the advantages of being in one.

Biochem prospects are probably greater than microbio in terms of range of opportunities, not necessarily in terms of quantity though.

Thanks for the reply  Are the degrees really that different though?
