Chemistry and Biology?

Im majoring in Biochem Engineering and going to medschool after. Dont laugh or joke about it, heres the thing. I dont remember a single thing that happened in either of these courses. How hard will they be? For instance General Chem I for science majors? Do you need to have a background to get an A in this course?

By the way I heared that alot of the stuff is Math. I'm pretty good at calculations. But except for that, how could I prepare?

Nothing wrong in majoring in Engineering!

Those classes are essentially the easiest classes an Engineer takes [I’m an Engineer / Pre-Med too ^_^]

Not sure about Gen Bio (I took Systems Bioengineering 1/2/3+lab as my Biology for Pre-Med), but a lot of my friends who took Gen Bio 1 said it was all memorization and basically a joke.

General Chem is managable too, especially for a Chem E! The math is all computations, nothing tricky. Like basic multiplying. In Gen Chem II when you do Quantum Mech, you may have to take one or two derivatives or integrals but its basic calc I, IF THAT!

You’re an Engineer, you’ll have NO problems with these courses. Dont sweat it man!
Good Luck :)

Of course there is the issue of medical school adcoms disrespecting “vocational” undergraduate majors.

Engineering’s an exception, largely b/c it includes many of the same rigorous courses as other academic majors. At most schools, majors such as nursing, pre-allied health, athletic training, communications, and marketing simply do not include those types of courses.
But I see we’re still feeling a bit bitter about all that?

Engineering might be harder, but Gen. Chem has been one of the D’s easiest classes in college, most of her grades were over 100% and she ended up being offered a possition as Assistant by Gen. Chem prof. (best job on campus, as you might imagine). That does not mean that Orgo was easy, it was not at all, it also does not mean that Gen. Chem in engineering is easy. It also might vary from school to school.
