Hi all, I’ve just been accepted to Brown and UIUC and I intend to take Chemistry as a major. I’m also keen on furthering my studies in chemistry after finishing my undergraduate years. I’m just wondering how the chemistry program is in Brown compared to UIUC and between Brown and UIUC, which has a better rep among graduate schools?

Appreciate all the advice I can get from all you guys & girls…

Actually I had a long conversation yesterday about going to grad school with someone who knows that kind of business well. I want to go to Brown but I think I might end up at another school with merit due to financial issue. I was trying to figure out if Brown would be worth investigating. From what I hear, if you go to a school above a certain level, you can go to any graduate school. Going to a school with more rigorous program may give you some edge, but in the end what matters is what and how you do during your four years at college, not where you go. But the guy I was talking to told me that if I go to Brown I would never regret being in debt to spend four years there since it seems like a perfect fit for me. But he said I might regret if I attended another school.

So in the end, it's your choice. Would you invest $$ to attend Brown for college experience? If you just look at money itself, UIUC is a better choice. But there are things that you can't buy or you can't measure with $$.
