Chemistry Professor is New Jersey Professor of the Year

Interesting comments about old RU chemistry here - new department under new leadership, with Darrin York transforming the general chemistry experience (and getting Prof. of the Year award for his efforts). It is a hard subject, but hard work always pays benefits - in this case better job opportunities. Will the ignorant few who mention probation please become educated? Departments are not placed on probation because of their grade distributions.

When did the Chemistry department being placed on probation? And for what reasons was Chemistry department placed on probation? One professor being named NJ Professor of the Year does not necessarily mean the entire department is good, right? Just curious.
