I am looking to pre pharm requisites and get a bs in chem, would it be better for me to try attend GT for rigor and competition for grad school or should i stay on more easy level major in chemistry at like UGA to keep a steady GPA?
Depends on your study habits and your desire for rigor. Lots of students get As at GT with steady work. But are you testing near the top of GT or in the middle? You have to compare you scores and GPA to the averages at each school. If you land in the middle, you will be working hard at GT. If your GPA and grades are near the top for GT,
then you will work but be able to take some weekends off, most likely, but depends on exactly what classes you take at the same time. Plan carefully at GT to avoid overloading yourself but still finishing in four years. Its possible, but plan carefully.
I’d say if you’re sure you want to continue to professional school, pick UGA.
If you want to go into industry, pick GT.
Just from the post above you can guess that GT is harder than UGA - not that UGA is a walk in the park but working hard all week long usually yields good results without having to grind through the weekend.
However the algorithm that makes the early cuts for professional schools (such as pharmacy or med schools) doesn’t care where you went to school. You have a 3.5+ or whatever… Or not.
Industries on the other hand don’t really care about our GPA as long as you have a degree they know 'delivers '.
Both choices are good. But decide depending on what you see yourself doing later on.
