I just created my schedule this week during orientation but I have changed it since then. I dropped engl101 (I waitlisted other sections) and switched around some classes because I didnt want to take enes100 at 8 AM. Currently I'm taking the following:

CHEM135, MATH141, ENES100, ENES181, HIST201, CLAS170 (I signed up for this just to fill a spot in case I dont get into engl101)

So my question is, would it be a bad idea to take phys161 this semester (I would drop clas170 and take engl101 next semester)? I want to get ahead but I'm not sure if this would be too much work for my first semester in college. Right now there is a phys161 section that would fit my current schedule but I'm just not sure about it. I took AP Physics B and C in high school but didnt get any credit. I also have a decent amount of gen ed credit.

Sorry for the long story I'm just wondering what I should do.
Thanks

Yes it would be a bad idea to do three gateway courses the same semester.

any particular reason? I know this isnt highschool anymore but I handled my workload pretty well and I feel like I could do the same in college

If you think it won’t be an issue and you have some sort of Chem/Physics background to make it a bit easier to grasp the material. Two lab classes might be a bit much though, but that’s just me.

phys161 and chem135 arent labs. they are just lectures with discussions. i still have a month and a little bit to figure everything out. i just wanted to see what my options were

I say it’s a bad idea because chem135 phys161 and math141 are all time intensive (even without labs), 7-10 hrs per week each class. If you find you need to drop one of them and take a W, you will have used up your get out of jail free card before your first semester of college is finished. Maybe you’ll be fine, maybe you’ll get sacrifice an A for a B (or B for C) just to get them out of the way, I personally was happy with the balance of chem135/136, math141, enes100, plus gened classes my first semester.

ok thanks. i was just wondering but was probably never going to do it. hopefully ill get into engl101 once more spots open up
