So we’re ranking one higher on US News bully for us. In more interesting news, did anyone else do the survey they sent to all first years? For those who didn’t get the email it basically asks you a series of personality questions and asks you why you were interested in Chicago and uses those answers for data collection and to pair you with one of Chicago’s famous alum. It’s like a buzzfeed quiz that actually gathers useful data. It’s tacky but I got John Paul Stevens so I’m pleased with it.
Yea! I got Jeannette Piccard–high altitude balloonist and NASA consultant
My daughter got Carter Woodson, which made her happy. But she thought the questions were poorly framed.
@exacademic how so? I thought they really made you think about who you are.
She thought there were lots of cases where no option really appealed or fit. Kind of like would you rather be in charge or make everybody happy? Not inherently interested in either. Which she’d gravitate toward would depend on the situation (what’s at stake, does there have to be a collective decision, what options are on the table – are any clearly right or wrong?).
In that sense, they did make her think about who she is, but she couldn’t represent her thoughts in any meaningful way given the answers available.
