Chicago MAPH

I’ve spent some time looking, and have found mixed reviews of Chicago’s MAPH program. I applied to a number of Philosophy PhDs, but only gained MA admissions. Chicago’s programs seems particularly interesting me, as it allows me to explore my breadth of interests - my interests are in law, legal/political philosophy, feminist philosophy, legal regulation of gender/sexuality, etc. So the availability to take courses all from these different areas is particularly interesting me.

However, I’m put off by the negative reviews/opinions of the program that I’ve come across. Some have said that the derived department doesn’t necessarily get very involved with students - I did receive a very nice personal email from someone in the philosophy dept saying they had recommended me for admissions, they enjoyed my writing sample, etc. which was nice. Some reviews, however, suggest that personalized attention (e.g. thesis supervision) may be lacking.
