Hi - thought I’d update this old thread a bit now that I’ve been thoroughly schooled!
I have a wet-erase 60 day calendar in front of me right now with my daughter’s mid-term exams and all the remaining 10 auditions she has left, and which are finally all scheduled for Jan & Feb.
The good news is she’s fully accepted to the Acting BFA at UArts, so we know she will be in a BFA program. (Trying to forget about the wasted $ in application/audition/test score fees to the BA schools - wish I’d been just that much more organized months ago! Oh well.)
She has mid-term exams the week of Jan 16th, so she is only doing two schools the following weekend. We live in NJ and will drive to New Brunswick so she can audition for Rutgers Mason Gross School and hopefully get a nice feel for the school by being on campus. She will audition for the UMinn Guthrie Program the following day in NYC, which is an easy commute for us. (They are at Nola Studios, not technically part of NYC Unifieds.)
The following weekend she will audition in NYC on campus at Marymount Manhattan.
We’re flying to Ann Arbor on 2/3 so she can audition at UMich. on campus (call me crazy, but their website said “We strongly recommend auditioning or interviewing in Ann Arbor.” https://www.music.umich.edu/prospective_students/admissions/ug/auditions.htm
so I thought showing that level of interest over just auditioning at Chicago Unifieds would mean something.)
We then will fly to Chicago for Unifieds and she will audition for Boston U, Butler U, DePaul (on campus) and Emerson College.
Next, she’ll audition on campus for Syracuse U audition.
Then, since we’ve never been to Pittsburgh and she really should see the campus of her #1 choice BFA program, she will audition at Carnegie Mellon U. for her final audition.
I’m sure we could have worked more into the Chicago Unifieds, but less stress coupled with the chance to see these schools in person were big factors in the crazy travel schedule we have ended up with. Hopefully she has some choices to make, including the schools we are traveling to so it was worth the investment.
