Hey there, I was wondering how colleges view this situation. I plan on explaining to them that I was limited in my volunteering and EC’s because I’ve had to watching a younger brother and sister since freshman year of high school due to the fact that my father became absorbed by his work and a mother who committed a lot of her time to my other brother’s fencing career.
I don’t want to downplay my parents, they are great people, but will colleges see this as an excuse? I would like to think this is a legitimate reason as to not participating frequently in the community but I was wondering if any of you think that it is not legitimate.
I would plan on using this on the additional comments portion of my application (for UC’s)
