Hello, the child support for my son ends on Aug 2 when he turned 18. But when I fill in the Fafsa, it asks for child support of 2009.

That does not reflect the reality of our household income for the 2010-2011 academic year when I won't receive a cent in child support for him. He loses eligibility for Pell Grant if that non-existent child support is considered! Anyone has ideas?

You’ll have to petition the school for a special circumstances adjustment. With the proper documentation I think you would have a good shot at an adjustment.

to Erin’s Dad, isn’t Pell from federal? what can the school admin do?

Some schools will adjust for loss of child support, taking into consideration the amount you will have received during a specific period of time (this is allowed per professional judgment guidelines). However, many schools will NOT adjust, since you DID have this money during the base year; the loss of income will be reflected next year.

Call your aid office & ask.
