choate has the best food! im gonna gain the freshman 15 fast lol

omg...my parents said that too!!!hey so what sports r u guys planning on doing while at choate???lol so we can burn off that extra fat....

if you guys have any questions, i just graduated from choate last year, and i lived in mem house for three years, so i know plenty about the life of a choate frosh.

thats great!!!so did u enjoy ur time there???was there always something to do or did it get boring????

I believe it is a great place. However, I did not receive any good impression from the music director. When I talked to him in his office, he persistently
urged me to take private lessions showing a lot of gifts that he received from
students.

as a freshman, you'll love choate. i'm guessing you are at the top of your class at your current school, given how tough it is to be admitted. expect to get your first c's and d's at choate, that will make your transition a little easier, as most students don't see it coming. you'll love nichols or squire, they are both fun dorms and i've never heard anyone complain about them. Now that I'm a freshman in college, I have realized how great Choate was and how much i miss it. I keep in really close contact with my old friends, and I plan on going to alumni weekend in two weeks.

As far as the music program, if you are talking about Phil Ventre, he can be a little quirky.

just wondering...computer or laptop???idk which to bring...what r the pros and cons 2 both...

Either is fine. Most students bring a laptop, which is what I brought. First, if you want to study outside or go to the library, it's nice to have your own laptop. Secondly, if you go home for weekends or vacation, bringing a laptop is obviously more convenient. Honestly though, either one is fine. Any other questions???

about how much hw did u have each night? like, was there still time for fun stuff?

haha, you will have a decent amount of homework each night, but freshmen year is not bad at all. sophomore year leads to a bring increase in work, and you're junior and senior years will be ridiculous. choate does a good job getting you used to a lot of work though.
When I was a Mem house prefect, we ran study hours for freshmen from 7:30 to 9:00 and 9:45 to 10:30 with 10:45 lights out. Nichols will have the same schedule, although the girl prefects might do things a little differently, obviously since I'm a guy I wouldn't know. 95 percent of the time you'll be able to get all your work done during this mandatory study time.

thanks! tenchar

i think a laptop is the way to go, its much more convenient.
freshman workload is not bad at all...i usually do my homework early and almost always get it done before the first half of study hours...but its different for different people.
lots of people get worse grades here than they did at their old school..so expect that.. but its not too bad. i haven't gotten a c or a d so far and hope not to..

bumppp this was getting lost...
