Our bank (PNC) has no close locations to UChicago, and I would like recommendations from parents of any current UChicago students or parents on a bank that they have had positive experiences with. I'd also like any thoughts on the best way to provide funds to a student.

This worked well for 6 years/2 kids: There is a Citibank branch more or less on campus, and there is also one a block from my office (700 miles away). We opened an account here, my kids were able to use it there, make deposits and withdrawals, etc. Usually, we just sent a monthly check, but when we wanted to give one of them money in an emergency I would generally get cash from my bank, go to the Citibank branch, and deposit it to the account there. It would get credited immediately. The poor man’s wire transfer!

Citibank is very convenient. There are ATMs at the International House and the Reynold’s Club (student union building). Like what JHS said: there is a Citibank branch (and, of course, ATMs) right in front of the university bookstore (S Ellis Ave). People there are very nice too!
