One thing that has struck me about the decision to go “off the beaten path,” is that you will end up at a college where people don’t care so much about status, prestige, and what everyone else thinks. It’s kind of nice to get away from “sheeple” if you know what I mean ;). Of course I’m not saying that everyone who chooses a big name school is a sheep, and I’m not saying that all those who choose lesser-known schools are original thinkers. But I do think conformist types are more apt to go with the safe choice that won’t be questioned by anyone.</p>
