Choosing a Vocal Pedagogy Program? Shenandoah vs. WCC?

Hey there.

I was recently accepted into Westminster Choir College’s masters program for Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy as well as Shenandoah’s masters program for Vocal Pedagogy.

I’m pretty stuck between the two and was wondering if anyone had any good or bad things to say about either program? I know there’s plenty of threads to look through, especially for WCC, but they’re mostly about the undergraduate programs for VP/MT at both and I’m obviously interested in hearing more about their masters programs.

Thanks!

Can’t comment about programs but the location of WCC is ideal to get into New York for fun or lessons or auditions, if that is relevant!

Great point!

I teach at Shenandoah in the pedagogy program, but was not at auditions. Both schools have great programs - Congrats on getting into both! All pedagogy classes at SU address both classical and CCM styles. I’m not 100% sure about WCC, but my impression from former students is that it is primarily classical. If you want classical only, WCC is probably your best bet. If you want both, we would love to have you at SU  If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.
