Choosing Between Scholars Programs!

Hi! I was accepted into UMD as a biological sciences-physiology and neurobiology major as well as the CP Scholars program. Does anyone have any insights into the Environment, Technology, and Society; Public Leadership; and the Life Sciences programs? They all sound interesting and I have to fill out the preferencing form so I have to make a decision relatively fast! Thank you for any insights in advance.

When deciding between which scholars program, one way is to not only look at the description, and special lectures/field visits, but the courses that are approved to fulfill the electives… the options are found in the lower half of the citation requirements - you have to open the pdf for each one for details and scroll down to see the electives.

Then use https://ntst.umd.edu/soc/ to look up what each course designation stands for.

So, for example, the third optional course in ETE is AMST260. If you look it up on testudo, you will see it’s an American studies course entitled American Culture in the Information Age and they give you this brief description: Examines the ways in which content and form of public information interact with the culture, families & individuals.
Hope that helps.
