I know USC and NYU have pretty reputable programs, and as far as I know they seem to be the only business undergrad programs in which you can obtain a cinema/entertainment emphasis or concentration.

However, these are two very selective schools---do other schools exist that have similar programs? I do plan on applying to both however one must be realistic.

Could NYU or USC be said to be better than the other as far as education quality and reputation go?

Thanks a bunch

Wait'll you get in before making your decision; it may be made for you after you apply to both. You might also think about UCLA. You can also look at schools with strong business/management programs and then minor in film or media studies. If you're thinking Hollywood, you've got to be either/or -- either a creative which means going to a top-notch film school or a "suit" which means having an MBA or law degree. Your call.

UCLA unfortunately does not have to my knowledge an undergraduate business program. Most Bruin undergrads opt to do the "Business Econ" program.

Actually, I am a very right-brained person and I am fascinated by the world of business---so I figure morphing the two would be ideal for me; hence the film/entertainment concentration.

well USC does have a Cinema/Business program for undergrads, but it is very difficult to get into, and you can only get into it during freshman year, after that you may as well opt to earn a film minor. I was interested in it, but i got defered from the program and just went another way with what minor to get.

I dont know how NYU works in regards to any joint film/business programs they have.

Does USC have elevated admissions "requirements" (we all know there is no formula for college admission, especially at private schools) in the Cinema Business program, or is it just the same statistics they have for the rest of the school?

i imagine they just take a potential business school statistic and look for some of the most promising ones, depending on the competition to get in of course.

also facotor in if you can express an interest in film (although you are in incoming freshman so i'm sure there's only so much you can facilitate them with). For the most part i imagine just to look like a good business school applicant, only better.

you get into the business school first, and if you have high enuf stats, they invite you to apply for the cinema/tv joint program which has a separate short app. they only have 40 spots for each class though...
