Does CIT help freshmen get summer internships? If not, is it very difficult to find an internship on your own?

I know quite a few freshmen who landed great internships after their first year: NVIDIA, Google, Microsoft
You ALWAYS get emails from the CIT career advisor about available opportunities, you can schedule meetings with your advisors or the career advisors, and most importantly, attend the two big Career Fairs (one in fall, one in late winter)

Thanks! I was wondering, because a lot of my college friends are already doing internships. Do you know if they are usually paid, and if so how much they pay?

It really depends where you get an internship. (good) Industries tend to pay a lot (idk where I heard that from but some people can get a 25/hr paid internship)
If you’re doing research, it really depends on the professor and the kind of research. Some projects are not yet funded and professors will try to give you just basic stipend for you to “survive the summer” here, though CMU has summer research grants which you apply to if you feel like your internship is underpaid
