As being the first generation to attend a college in USA.... can this fact be advantageous to me or hurt my chances... if it is advantageous... where does that get mentioned in the application process and can being a citizen of another country for ex. for me I am a Indian born Canadian Citizen with a USA Greencard...

can that be helpeful in the application process and how does that get represented??? (Application wise)

Greatly appreciate your help in this matter.

Although you might be the first to go to college in the US, did your parents go to college, in India or elsewhere? If they did, then you don't count as a first generation college student.

if your parents have not gone to college... and you are the first one.. how does that get revelead on your admissions process?

Your application will have a spot for the college your parents went to. It will also have a place for you to put down the highest education they've completed.
