Civil and Industrial?

Hello, I’m currently getting a degree in civil engineering and I was thinking about what other degree I should do so sooner than later I could be an engineering supervisor or manager. I was thinking after my bachelors in civil I would get my MBA but I was wondering if it would be a good idea instead to get both a degree in civil and industrial engineering? I’m not sure if I could do a civil bachelors with a minor in industrial or if I should get a degree in civil and a degree in industrial. Sooo I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations on this subject??

or if I should get a degree in engineering management?

Just focus on getting a job in your field of interest first and do a good job. Work experience is a bigger requirement/more important than minors imo. After a few years of working, then get an MBA.

Should I get my masters in civil then instead of trying to do the industrial

For civil engineering, the Professional Engineer license is often important, so look up what you need to do for that.

Many engineers do go into management of engineering organizations without getting an MBA.

I have an undergrad in CE and a grad in IE. That would be my suggestion because of prerequisites. A grad IE degree is not really management related unless you get into operations management and the like, in which case an MBA helps more.

It all depends on how Lady Luck smiles upon you, incidentally. I never practiced CE because I got into computer software upon graduation, and my IE specialty is Human Machine Interface… Go figure
