Hey people. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any Master's programs for civil engineering (structural concentration) that fit my criteria:

-Metro NY (I would like to be no more than 4 hours from NYC- so we're looking at NY, NJ, Eastern PA, CT, MA)
-Affordability/Best Value (I'm going to a private school now and would like to get a masters without creating a significant amount of debt)
-Would do an M.S. but more interested in an M. Eng. or anything that focuses more on the practice of eng. and not research.

Any information on program difficulty and admissions difficulty/criteria would be helpful!

Thanks :)

There are plenty of MS programs in civil engineering that don't require research in the NYC area. The problem is you usually have to pay sticker price for tuition. Have you considered going into industry and working for a company that will pay for you to get your MS part-time?

I would consider it but I sort've prefer to get it over with early (as in just attend full-time for a year and then be finished with school). It would be something to look into though.

Any particular reason why you're not interested in research? I, for one, thought that a research-based program was going to be insanely boring and pretty much ruled out all thought of doing anything but an M.Eng., but ended up at U of I because they paid me. Keeping up on all the new and interesting research (which, in civil engineering, is pretty much all practically-based anyhow because that's where all the money is) was the most interesting and useful part of grad school for me.
