Civil Rights, Animal Sounds, Dante, Daughter / Grandmother

definitely don't remember that.

curve = beautiful...

Did we all have the same math and writing? I had 4000, skid mark(i got wrong! :( ), 2, slope of some rectangle and I don't remember any others.

what was the skid mark? I'm pretty sure I got that question right. i can't remember what K equaled though.

I got it wrong. Apparently the answer was 1/9. The problem wasn't hard at all, I just must not have paced myself well, I swear I had to do that problem in under a minute. Trying too hard not to be careless on the easy problems...:-/

wooo i got it. :D

predicted curve:
800
800
800
790
770
760
750
730
720
700

No way. We'll be lucky if one wrong is an 800. I still doubt that. What problems did you think were that hard? Maybe I'm forgetting some.

I had the same test version as you guys but I didn't have any sentence completions with the words "milquetoast," "egotism," or "hackneyed". All the math questions were the same though.

Well, I did have an experimental CR. Does anyone remember what reading passages went with the completions that had "milquetoast" and "hackneyed/platitudinous"?

don't remember it at all. it might have been the civil rights passage...either that or the grandmother story.

i think it was zealous not caricature.

lets look at the definitions:

zealous:

zeal·ous Audio pronunciation of "zealous" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (zls)
adj.

Filled with or motivated by zeal; fervent.

zeal Audio pronunciation of "zeal" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (zl)
n.

Enthusiastic devotion to a cause, ideal, or goal and tireless diligence in its furtherance. See Synonyms at passion.

Caricature:

car·i·ca·ture Audio pronunciation of "caricature" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kr-k-chr, -chr)
n.

1.
1. A representation, especially pictorial or literary, in which the subject's distinctive features or peculiarities are deliberately exaggerated to produce a comic or grotesque effect.
2. The art of creating such representations.

seems to me zealous fits in context better.

Hm, I did have the passage about the grandmother and the civil rights guy. Did you guys have a passage about a crew of men on a ship?

the reader views her father as a _________.

i dont know but both sycophant and dilettante were wrong

I ommited the question sycophant, dilettante, and I think paragon was in there too. I wasn't sure enough about any of the words to try it. Lets keep this thread alive though. Our test version seems relatively rare.

i know, none of my friends at my school had this version.

I am actually really curious about this question

the reader views her father as a _________.

Answer choices:
*sycophant *-A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.
paragon- model of excellence
dilettante- dabbler in the fine arts

the question referenced to a line in the passage which i felt did not exactly portray the father in the best light.

ANYONE?

i'm not really sure...it's either caricature or zealot. did you put dismissive for the girl's attitude towards the crowd? I don't remember anything about a crew of men on a ship. i remember one writing question that bothered me...one of them was, surprisingly, number two on one of the sections, and another one was talking about cats and their colorblindness, I wasn't sure if it was ",although" or ";although"

I think the question you are all discussing referred to a passage about how the media portrayed her dad in his first television appearance. I think it asked what she thought they portrayed her dad as. And it was in a negative light.
