@bouvardia Yeah I only got the Thank You email from Irene Cox, and I submitted at like 11pm on 2/8 and mailed off my transcript/psat score on Friday.
@fairyfantasy - here’s hoping :3
@treborn81 @Woandering @bouvardia GOOD LUCK fingers crossed

The next few months are going to be long…at least I’ll have standardized testing to distract me from this
@bouvardia I got that email at around 4:00 pm today.
So, fellow Clark hopefuls, what are your research fields of interest?
Listed my field of interest as history, anyone else interested in the humanities and social sciences?
@randomhouse
Yeah economics here.
Anyone else for mathematics?
I’m stats
biomedical engineering for me
The people they accept are usually biomed engineering. I’ve actually never seen physics people there. I put down physics and chemistry, but my description for chemistry (my secondary interest) was much less detailed than my description for physics. I really went into depth about astrophysics research topics I wanted to do (basing them off of what the mentors were actually doing), but I found it easier to talk about astrophysics and not make it sound like I was just copy pasting from their reseach, probably because I’m such an astro person! And because I ran out of room, I just tacked on a “I’m open to anything in experimental particle physics as well”. I only had a few sentences for chemistry. I only know AP chemistry stuff, so I just know I’d want to do physical chemistry.
I called the office when I was trying to figure out who to send my application to; the person speaking to me explained that admissions can sometimes be based off what topic you apply for, and that fields that have less applicants can sometimes have higher acceptance rates.

One of the scholars was for physics
Actually 2 were physics in 2011!
@spacelover17 certainly fits your screen name
@hk9928 so what kind of research topic/problem in statistics would you hope for?
Very few for economics though
@woandering, hey, ya never know, maybe it gives you a better chance like @hk9928 said. I’m in AP Micro rn and I admire your interest in economics, I could never do it lol
@literatechild thanks! I hope so.
@hellohumans probably something with modeling, I attended some disease modeling lectures last summer so I talked a bit about those
Who else has yet to receive a confirmation email? I submitted my application materials well before the deadline, and I’ve only received the “thank you” email.
Same! I turned in my application in right before the deadline and got only a “thank you” email- nothing in it, just a thank you and her name. I’m guessing that they received everything. I don’t know if that would count as a confirmation, but I would think it would mean that they’ve received everything (or at least I hope…)
I don’t think so. The “thank you” email was sent for each part of the application, as my recommender also received this email. However, the confirmation email reads, “Your file is complete”. I’m not sure why I haven’t received it yet…
I haven’t received my confirmation either. D:
Looking at last year’s clark scholars cc page, it seems several people got that confirmation email rather late, so I would not worry too much.
