Clark Scholars 2015

@hk9928‌ Can you post the confirmation letter? I don’t think I’ve received one yet.

It was just a short message

"Your file is complete.

Thank you,

Irene Cox"

Oh no, I didn’t receive one! I think maybe my chemistry teacher forgot to send the recommendation. I’ll ask him tomorrow. I told him the deadline and asked him beforehand…My other two recommenders sent their recommendations earlier. Then again, I didn’t send the form until 4:45 pm-ish. And I emailed my unofficial transcript PDF and just mailed my official transcripts today. I got a short “thank you” from Ms. Cox for that, but idk about my entire file…

@spacelover17‌
Same here, although mine is because I sent transcripts a little late.

I sent my application yesterday but haven’t received an email yet…

Probably because one of my recommenders still hasn’t sent the form.

@Woandering‌ I know and its frustrating because I notified my recommenders beforehand but what can I do…

I applied to another program and they didn’t mind that my recommenders sent in the required forms a few days late so I’m counting on the Clark Scholars Program to be the same.

Has anyone other than hk9928 received a confirmation email?

@hk9928‌ when did you submit your application?
@hellohumans I submitted my essays at 5pm EST yesterday and have not gotten an email yet

Sent my application and transcripts early last week.

.

I got a confirmation email. I sent my application at around 5am on 2/9. Good luck to everyone else who applied!

Well I submitted the application just before 5:00 yesterday, so I guess I won’t worry about not getting the confirmation email until late next week. Good luck to you all.

Same! And my last recommender didn’t send it until today! I asked him early, but I forgot to remind him yesterday…sigh. I didn’t want to bother him earlier. And I didn’t have to remind my other recommenders, and he’d filled it out last year, so if he still had it his job should’ve been easiest…hope they still accept it. Maybe they won’t notice it’s late?

Has anyone tried emailing the program about late applications? I know they accept revisions/additions to the app sometimes, but I haven’t heard anything about submitting after the deadline.

@SnowCookie Oh. Perhaps the lack of confirmation is because the transcript has not arrived; I only sent it Friday. Oh well.
@spacelover17‌ Hopefully they won’t be terribly strict.

@Woandering‌

I actually did already answer the social scene questions but I’ll just copy, paste, and add some new info. :slight_smile:

“It was like a very fun and independent “college” experience. We lived in suite-style dorms so 3 people to each suite, which has 4 bedrooms, a living room with refrigerator, and 2 bathrooms. Everyone lived on the same floor so it was like a tiny community. We had weekly Thursday seminars/presentations from research professors on topics like ergonomics, solar panel/energy, ethics, etc. On Saturdays, we had “field trips” to awesome places including all-natural “pools”, museums, arcades, etc. On weekdays, most of us follow a “work schedule” going to labs from around 8 a.m. to 5 p.m… We generally try to get together with a few others to eat lunch and dinner but not so much whenever things get busy toward the last few weeks. We had a Clarkie from Lubbock (every year there will be one Clarkie chosen from within the city) so he brought a TV to his suite and we watched a LOT of late night movies. As for the research, Some interacted with professors often, others did not. Some were assigned by their professors to work under P.H.D students instead of actually working under the professors themselves. Definitely go to Einstein’s Bagels for food often; it’s easily one of my favorite restaurants on campus.”

I forgot to mention that we had free access to the TTU gym, swimming pools, and lazy river. There are also a lot of cool classes offered at the gym; the ones I tried were: zumba, yoga, hip hop. It was definitely a blast with all the free food and gym access. Everyone is pretty friendly so don’t stress too much about not getting along! I learned some basic hip hop/zumba dance moves, ping pong, and badminton while hanging out with some of the other Clarkies at the gym. There were also several gamers in our year so we brought video games, Cards Against Humanity, etc. If some of yall get in, go make a FB group so you guys can plan ahead on what to bring, etc, and get to know each other a little bit beforehand. :slight_smile:

As for relationship with mentors, I’m sure things vary depending on you and your mentor’s personalities…I am not exactly the most out-going person, but the lab I worked in were super friendly and we definitely chit-chatted about random stuf - along with related stuff, of course - in our free time.

@fairyfantasy‌
Sounds perfect. Now, just hope I get in.

Good luck to everyone who applied! :slight_smile:

…and now the wait!

Hey, I’m new to this but I also applied! Did anyone else get an email, I got an email that just said “Thank you”… nothing else. I’m discouraged by this because I sent my transcripts in last week and emailed the former right before 5… hopefully they’ll be lenient [-O<
