Clark Scholars Texas Tech?

^ That's good. We're projected to have a shortage of doctors in the future.

Yeah, I agree with physics--I think its the only challenging science course I'd taken so far, since it requires so much time input. Sigh, if only this thread were more popular T_T

lunar, i SORTA am not going to go into the sciences.
my first choice is going to be chem, but my second is musical theater/ arts, although i highly doubt they will let me work on THAT all summer!
hahaa

^ Lol, that'd be an interesting application to read. Wow, I wonder what the humanity side of Clark is like o_o

Oh, do you guys think AP scores can be reported under College Entrance Exams: Other? I only have one (World History: 5), but I was thinking of doing historical research and figured I might as well include it if I could.

VP: Musical theater? That sound so cool! Hmm, maybe the uniqueness factor could actually be helpful admissions-wise.

I'm applying, but i still have to start. blush
gah procrastination.

i'm like VPof09, sorta.
first choice: physics, second: philosophy.
odd-ness.

looking at the mentors and scholars from the years before, Clark seems biased towards bio: biomed, physiology, etc, etc. there's only one (if any) physics kids, and NO philosophy. sigh

first choice: math
second choice: deciding between music and english

underrepresented :)
I'm still deciding whether to apply though. I just found out about this program today, and asking my teachers to give me recs in a week seems a bit rude.

lunar_year, I put info from my AP tests in that section. I figured it really couldn't hurt, lol.

eternallysleepy: That's because Clark is sort of famous for its Bio labs :3 Also, I think there's usually no philosophy since nobody applies for philosophy.

ooo I so would if I thought that I would make any progress... I've taken a couple philosophy courses and am a bit hooked- I just don't think I could do anything in that field.

I get the feeling that humanities at Clark would sort of be like individualized TASP, which means more mentor interaction but less peer exchange...

I guess.. but is that a bad thing? I mean most of us are both science-y and artsy and would fit in still, and working with a professional would still be a great experience.

All I can say is that it'd probably be a very unconventional experience, lol. Almost makes me wish I'd putting Literature as my 2nd choice or something.

So are you guys using the online app or the paper app? The online app doesn't save with the instructions they told us. I just went with the paper.

Same :)
Though I'm not really done... at all. I brought over part of my app to RSI for the math section, but I want to write some nice ideas for english and/or music, and work on section C.

Ohhh, I feel I'm the only one not applying to RSI or another science program here. Maybe it's time to hit up some local professors T_T Noooo, I don't want to do that....~~~~~~~~

Haha, I would be at a bit of a loss wondering what to write for music. Wow, I have to remark--a girl wanting to do research in math. Really interesting. What math are you doing right now that has sparked this interest?

wait. a. minute.

you can turn in the online app online? gasp i thought you had to print it out and mail it.

^ AHH! No!! You can't do it online. They just give you a pseudo-online application which is basically an HTML page with textboxes, and no "submit" button. You have to type it up and then print the page out and then mail it. It's actually quite inconvenient really...might as well deal with the paper app.

marimare: i didn't apply to rsi either. nearly did, just gave up at the last minute.
psh. you sexist. there are lots of math-y girls. :P

grr. open-ended essays suck. scratch that. essays suck.

yeah, that's what i suspected.

There may be lots of math-y girls, but in proportion to the general female population they are quite rare ^^

lol well I'm not all pure and special like those amazing people. I'm all about applied math. We did a research project in stat class last year and got me really into applied math, and now I work with a local professor on a similar project. So.. yeah kinda math.

Agreed about being rare, but if you look at past scholars, there are a couple of them. :)

BTW, I'm still wondering what the girl who did business administration did...

marimare, that was sexist but made me laugh, because all asian guys at my school think like that. and when i pwn them on a math or chem test they're like: "wait... you're a girl.... and you have a life?! WHAT?!?!?"

so i do see your point.

idk if musical theater will be "special" because i'm sure people have applied with it... and didn't get in. So if i put that then i probably won't get to do it.

i'm trying for RSI too! but i'm not a genius. SOOOOO hahaha i'm looking into other camps.

^^ ditto :)
